Libby Cathey

Libby Cathey is a Political Reporter at CBS News with reporting featured regularly on CBS 24/7. She covered the 2024 presidential primaries and 2022 midterm elections as a Politics Reporter/Producer at ABC News, a role in which she traveled the country as a "one-man-band" chasing candidates and interviewing voters. Her experience as a so-called "embed" was featured on Power Trip, a documentary series on Hulu from George Stephanopoulos. 

Before 5+ years of reporting and producing in Washington, she worked as a Talent and Travel Coordinator at The Ellen DeGeneres Show in Los Angeles and as a Local News Editor at Snapchat in New York. 

 

Libby has a Master's degree in journalism from Columbia University, where she finished third in her class. She's also a summa cum laude graduate of New York University and held internships during college at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, NBC's TODAY Show, SiriusXM Radio, and KATV News in Little Rock, Arkansas.

 

She studied art history in Florence, Italy, and journalism in Accra, Ghana, while at NYU. The proud Little Rock Central High School graduate is also an Arkansas Razorbacks super fan and fried foods enthusiast.
